Twenty-block Staten Island rezoning approved

Civic association proposed the rezoning to protect area’s low-density character and hilly topography. On April 14, 2010, the City Council approved the Clove Lake Civic Association’s proposal to rezone twenty blocks in the Grymes Hill and Sunnyside sections of Staten Island. The area, located near Wagner College, is generally bounded by Silver Lake Park to the north, Sunnyside Terrace to the south, Highland to the east, and Clove Road to the west.

Brooklyn’s Rose Plaza waterfront project modified

Developer agreed to increase affordable housing and provide additional three and four-bedroom affordable units. On April 14, 2010, the City Council modified Isack Rosenberg’s proposal to build a multi-tower mixed-use development along the Brooklyn waterfront at 470 Kent Avenue. Known as Rose Plaza on the River, the project’s 3.7-acre site is bordered by the Schaefer Landing housing development to the north and Division Avenue to the south.

Owner claimed that narrow lot adjacent to elevated rail line could not accommodate conforming manufacturing use. First Department ruled that preservation group failed to show its members were affected differently than general public.
