    City Planning Votes to Approve New Mixed-Use Affordable Building in Wakefield

    Parking availability in the neighborhood had been a point of concern for the Community Board. May 11, 2022, the City Planning Commission voted to approve an application for a mixed-use residential and commercial building at 4541 Furman Avenue in the Wakefield section of the Bronx. The rezoning site is on a portion of the block bounded by East 240th Street, a line 300 feet north of East 239th Street to the south, White Plains Road to the west, and Furman Avenue to the east.     City Planning Votes to Approve Sutter Place NCP Buildings

    The buildings make use of smaller, vacant spaces to provide affordable housing. On April 27, 2022, the City Planning Commission voted to approve an application for four new buildings with a combined 46 total affordable units in East New York. The four sites are located at 492-496 Glenmore Avenue, 2358-2362 Pitkin Avenue, 943 Dumont Avenue, and 743 Blake Avenue, as part of the Sutter Place Neighborhood Construction Program project.     City Planning Hears Application for Mixed-Use Affordable Housing Building in Wakefield

    The building will be in two wings, and features 52 spaces of stacked parking in the cellar. On April 13, 2022, the City Planning Commission held a public hearing for an application for a mixed-use residential and commercial building at 4541 Furman Avenue in the Wakefield section of the Bronx. The rezoning site is on a portion of the block bounded by East 240th Street, a line 300 feet north of East 239th Street to the south, White Plains Road to the west, and Furman Avenue to the east. The project site is currently an underutilized warehouse. Several non-conforming buildings on the block would also be brought into conformance with the rezoning. The rezoning area is adjacent to the elevated No. 2 subway line that runs along White Plains Road. (read more…)

    City Planning Hears Application for Mixed-Use Building in Boerum Hill

    On April 13, 2022, the City Planning Commission held a public hearing for a proposed mixed-use residential and commercial building at 98 3rd Avenue in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. The proposed rezoning area is bordered by Bergen Street to the north, Wyckoff Street to the south, 3rd Avenue to the east, and goes into the block westerly approximately 100-120 feet.     City Planning Votes to Approve Application for Mixed Use Residential and Light Manufacturing Building in Astoria

    On April 13, 2022, the City Planning Commission voted to approve an application that would facilitate the construction of a nine-story mixed use building at 35-01 Vernon Boulevard in Astoria, Queens. The requested rezoning area consists of the northern portion of the block with 35th Avenue to the north, Vernon Boulevard to the west and 9th Street to the east. The two-story manufacturing building currently located on the project site is home to an auto parts business that is relocating to the Bronx. (read more…)
