The portion is part of a larger reconstruction project. On August 19, 2020, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation announced the completion of a portion of the Shore Road Bicycle Path in Bath Beach, Brooklyn. The newly repaved path was completed four months ahead of schedule, and spans approximately 2100 ft between Bay 8th and Bay 14th Street. The $575,000 in funding for this project was secured by City Council Member Justin Brannan. A larger reconstruction project will begin in fall 2021 to reconstruct other portions of the bicycle path along Shore Parkway. The $7.5 million project is funded by the Mayor’s office, the Brooklyn Borough President’s office, and City Council Members Mark Treyger and Justin Brannan.

Josephine Beckmann, District Manager of Community Board 10 commented, “The resurfacing of a large section filled with large pot holes and cave-ins along the Shore Road Promenade’s bicycle and pedestrian path is now complete.  It looks wonderful and has greatly improved safety for pedestrians and cyclists.  The Shore Road Promenade  is a community jewel – a magnificent open space with breathtaking views of the Narrows enjoyed by local residents and visitors to Bay Ridge.  I am grateful that Council Member Justin Brannan was able to secure the capital funding to repair this section.”
