On March 31, 2026, the Center for New York City and State Law at New York Law School hosted the first of three events in our new series “The Making of a Housing Crisis.” The first event, “What’s the Trouble with Housing?” featured Rachel Fee, Executive Director, New York Housing Conference; Dina Levy, Commissioner, NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development; Pierina Sanchez, Chair, New York City Council Committee on Housing and Buildings; and Arvind Sohoni, Senior Fellow at New York Law School and Executive Vice President of Strategy and Innovation, NYCHA. The panel was moderated by Ben Max, Program Director of the Center for New York City and State Law. Opening remarks were provided by Anthony W. Crowell, Dean and President of New York Law School and Director of the Center for New York City and State Law, and Howard Slatkin, Executive Director of Citizens Housing and Planning Council.
The event was co-hosted by the Center for Real Estate Studies at New York Law School and Citizens Housing and Planning Council.
