    Landmarks Announces Historic Preservation Grant Recipients

    The owners of these five properties have received the 2021 Historic Preservation Grants. These buildings are either within historic districts or landmarks operated by non-profits. Image credit: LPC

    Recipients will receive between $15,000 and $35,000 for repairs and restorations, the Landmarks Preservation Commission will also be providing hands-on assistance with the project. On March 2, 2021, the Landmarks Preservation Commission announced five new grant awards through the Historic Preservation Grant Program. The Grant Program is set up to assist homeowners and non-profit organizations with building restoration. (read more…)

    City Awards $38 Million in Infrastructure Grants for City Science Institutions

    Four New York City leading scientific research facilities are receiving infrastructure grants to advance innovation and public health. On January 21, 2021, Mayor de Blasio announced that Columbia University, Montefiore-Einstein, the New York Stem Cell Foundation, and Rockefeller University are the four winners of $38 million in infrastructure grants for research and development departments. These grants come as a part of LifeSci NYC, a $500 million project with the goal of establishing New York City as a public health capital. (read more…)

    NYCHA Receives $24.7 Million HUD Grant to Support Resident Safety and Security Needs

    The funds will go toward improving security lighting and lead abatement. On December 31, 2020, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) announced that the agency received a $24.7 million Emergency Capital Needs Safety and security Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to be used to address resident health, safety and security concerns.  (read more…)
