On May 7, 2020, the Landmarks Preservation Commission released an enhanced version of their online interactive map, Discover NYC Landmarks. On November 14, 2023, Department of City Planning (DCP) Director Dan Garodnick announced that DCP’s online census data tools Population FactFinder and Population MapViewer have been updated. Both programs have been refreshed to include new demographic information as well as features that make exploring New York City through the tools easier.
LPC Celebrates LGBTQ+ Landmarks with Interactive Story Map
Released in honor of pride month, the story map features significant places like the Stonewall Inn. On June 16, 2022, the Landmarks Preservation Commission announced the launch of “Pride: Celebrating LGBTQ+ Landmarks”. This interactive story map highlights individual landmarks designated by LPC for their significant contributions to LGBTQ+ cultural and civil rights movements.
