NYCHA Announces Financing Secured for Manhattanville Houses PACT Renovation Project

On December 12, 2024, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) announced they secured $445 million to renovate the Manhattanville Houses Complex, revitalize existing shared spaces, and improve building infrastructure. This project is anticipated to be completed in three years.

DDC Celebrates Completion of Repairs of Laurelton Library

On October 9, 2024, Queens Public Library President Dennis M. Walcott and NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) Commissioner Thomas Foley celebrated the re-opening of the Laurelton Library. The library was closed to make necessary repairs. This $1.8 million project was completed under the budgeted amount, saving over $160,000. The one-story Laurelton Library is located at 134-26 225th Street and originally opened in 1955.


NYCHA Secures Funding for Frederick Samuel Apartments Renovations

On September 26, 2024, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) announced renovations will be conducted at the Frederick Samuel Apartments through the Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) project. Since, 1994 the New York City Housing Authority has managed the Frederick Samuel Apartments, which were constructed between 1910 and 1928. Parks Dept Celebrates Upgraded Open Spaces at Sotomayor Houses

On October 1, 2024, New York City Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue and other critical stakeholders celebrated the completion of the reconstruction the playground and open space at the New York City Housing Authority’s Sotomayor Houses. This NYCHA property is located in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx and was opened in January 1955. It was formally known as the Bronxdale Houses. City Creates New Program to Help Affordable Housing Projects Go Green

On September 26, 2024, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced the creation of the GreenHOUSE Fund to improve compliance with Local Law 97 for owners of buildings with affordable housing. Since 2019, Local Law 97 has required the majority of buildings over 25,000 square feet to meet new energy-efficient and greenhouse gas emissions requirements. The City’s ongoing climate goals include having the largest buildings produce zero emissions by 2050 and improving air quality.
