The markers commemorate Flatbush’s first historic district. On December 8, 2021, the Landmarks Preservation Commission revealed the historic district marker that will commemorate the East 25th Street Historic District in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. The historic district, which runs on East 25th Street between Clarendon Road and Avenue D, was designated last year.

Mayor’s Office Announces Dozens of Resilient Building and Infrastructure Projects
On November 22, 2021, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the creation of a new pilot program to design and construct projects utilizing the NYC Climate Resiliency Design guidelines. The guidelines provide technical guidance for engineers and architects in the design of buildings, roads, sewer systems, public housing, and other forms of public infrastructure to anticipate worsening impacts from climate change including flooding, storm surge and intense heat.
First Design-Build Teams Selected, Construction to Soon Begin on Borough-Based Jails Project
These teams will prepare the site for construction and enable court operations to continue for the duration of construction. HPD Announces Settlement Reached with Building Owner Over Harassment and Violations
The landlord had previously topped the NYC Public Advocate’s Worst Landlord Watchlist. On November 22, 2021, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development announced that a settlement had been reached with Jason Korn, a Brooklyn-based landlord over outstanding building violations and tenant harassment in six buildings in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
NYCHA Announces Opening of New Affordable and Supportive Housing in Brownsville
On November 10, 2021, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) announced the opening of the Van Dyke III, a new twelve-story supportive and affordable housing development in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. The Van Dyke III, is built on underutilized land at NYCHA’s Van Dyke campus on Dumont Avenue between Mother Gaston Boulevard and Powell Street.
