    Parks Dept Celebrates Reopening of Noble Playground in the Bronx

    On August 1, 2023, the Parks Department announced the completion of a $2.5 million renovation to Noble Playground in the Van Nest section of the Bronx. The playground is located on Noble Avenue between Bronx River Avenue and East 177th Street.  (more…)

    DDC Announces Reopening of Stuyvesant Cove Park Following Renovations and Resiliency Upgrades

    On May 31, 2023, Department of Design and Construction Commissioner Thomas Foley,  Economic Development Corporation Executive Vice President Josh Kraus, elected officials, and community leaders celebrated the opening of the northern section of Stuyvesant Cove Park. The opened section of the park runs from East 20th Street to East 23rd Street along the East River; the remaining section of the park from East 18th Street to East 20th Street is expected to open this summer.  (more…)

    DDC Announces Reopening of Steinway Library in Astoria After Renovations

    On January 18, 2022, the Department of Design and Construction announced the reopening of the Steinway Library at 21-45 31st Street in Astoria. Steinway Library is one of the three original branches from 125 years ago that became the Long Island City Public Library system, later known as the Queens Borough Public Library. Prior to the pandemic, Steinway Library served almost 200,000 customers and circulated over 225,000 materials annually.  (more…)

    NYC Officially Enters Phase 4 of Reopening

    New York City becomes final region in state to reach Phase 4 of reopening. On July 20, 2020, New York City officially entered a modified Phase 4 of the State’s reopening plan. Phase 4 in New York City marks the final stage of the State’s plan but should not be understood to mean that all industries, businesses and practices are back to pre-COVID-19 operations. Phase 4 industries include low-risk outdoor arts and entertainment, professional sports with no spectators, and media production like movies, music and television productions. Low-risk outdoor venues include zoos and botanical gardens, which are required to operate at no greater than a thirty-three percent capacity.

    Real Estate: Key Industry to Return to Work in Phase 2 of Reopening

    Brokerages may show properties, under regulation, as part of Phase 2 reopening. On June 22, 2020, New York City officially entered Phase 2 of the State’s COVID-19 reopening plan. In addition to the opening of in-person retail and sidewalk seating for restaurants, the real estate industry was a key industry permitted to reopen. This applies to residential property management companies, real estate brokers, building inspectors, appraisers and related building operators.
