    DEP Announces Completed Upgrades to Jerome Park Reservoir

    Approximately 10 percent of the City’s drinking water passes through the reservoir daily. On February 7, 2022, the Department of Environmental Protection announced the completion of infrastructure upgrades at Jerome Park Reservoir in the Bronx.     Parks Dept Begins Little Neck Playground Upgrades with Accessible Play Equipment

    Upgrades include new swings, sensory play equipment and new pavement. On July 15, 2021, the Department of Parks and Recreation announced the groundbreaking for renovations at Challenge Playground on 251 Street between 61st and 63rd Avenues in Little Neck, Queens.     Parks To Allocate $4.6 Million for Gorman Playground Upgrades in East Elmhurst

    The East Elmhurst playground will be receiving a $4.6 million renovation to accommodate active and passive recreation. On April 8, 2021, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation’s Commissioner, Mitchell J. Silver, announced the new $4.6 million renovation of the Gorman Playground located at 25th Avenue and 84th Street in East Elmhurst. The project received its funding for renovation from former Council Member Costa Constantinides prior to his departure from office. (more…)

    Parks Dept Completes $3.8 Million Upgrades to Norwood Playground in the Bronx

    New upgrades make the park safer, more fun, and accessible to all New Yorkers. On November 6, 2020, NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., City Council Member Andrew Cohen, State Assembly Member Nathalia Fernandez, State Assembly Member Jeffrey Dinowitz, Bronx Community Board 7 parks Chair Barbara Stronczer, and representatives from the Friends of Mosholu Parkland unveiled the reconstructed Kossuth Playground located along Mosholu Parkway North and Kossuth Avenue in the Northwest Bronx.     City Completes Drinking Water Upgrades for City Island Residents

    Two new water mains were placed under Eastchester Bay. On July 20, 2022, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Rohit T. Aggarwala and NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) Commissioner Thomas Foley announced the completion of a $34 million project dedicated to upgrading the drinking water for City Island, Bronx residents. The project began in 2019 and was substantially completed in December 2021 through the funding of the Department of Environmental Protection and the management of the Department of Design and Construction.
