On March 31, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams announced the appointment of two new members of the Rent Guidelines Board. The Rent Guidelines Board is responsible for establishing rent adjustments for apartments subject to the City’s rent stabilization law. On March 15, 2022, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC), and members of the development team cut the ribbon for the first building of the Linden Terrace project. The Linden Terrace project will bring 548 new affordable homes spread across three buildings. The celebration marked the opening and first lease up of 2858 Linden Boulevard, the first building, and the groundbreaking of the second and third buildings in the project. The development team consists of Radson Development, Real Builders, and Spring Management. (more…)

The densely residential area lacks many commercial spaces, including supermarkets. On March 16, 2022, the City Planning Commission heard an application that would allow for a supermarket to be added to a new 23-story tower currently under construction at 2300 Cropsey Avenue in Gravesend, Brooklyn. State law requires rent stabilization laws to be renewed periodically based on housing vacancy rates. On March 10, 2022, the City Council voted to extend the City’s Rent Stabilization Law by providing more time to gather data to ensure the rent stabilization law is still necessary. The bill, Int. 70, was sponsored by Council Member Pierina Ana Sanchez. (more…)
