Last week, the City Council passed a resolution in support of allowing 16- and 17-year-olds to serve on their local community boards. The resolution throws City support behind Albany legislation that would amend the City Charter and Public Officers Law to let the teens become full voting members of their boards.

Artspace P.S. 109 is a 90-unit affordable housing complex that formerly served as an underutilized school building located in 215 East 99th Street in East Harlem, Manhattan. P.S 109 is an 1898 Gothic Revival-style structure that is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Parking Facilities Ruled Exempt from Property Tax
Parking Lots associated with Greater Jamaica Development corporation challenged Finance’s withdrawal of tax exemption. Greater Jamaica Development Corporation and Jamaica First Parking, LLC, brought an article 78 petition against the Department of Finance and the New York City Tax Commission, challenging the City’s revocation of a charitable tax exemption for the public parking facilities they owned and operated. On appeal to the Appellate Division, Second Department, the court restored the tax exemption.
Emergency Demolition May Be Necessary for City-Owned Individual Landmark
Landmarks urged DOB and DCAS to look at all possible alternatives before resorting to demolition. On December 17, 2013, the Landmarks Preservation Commission held a hearing for the application for an advisory report to demolish the individually landmarked Public School 31, located at 425 Grand Concourse in the Bronx.
