HPD Celebrates Opening of 171 Affordable Apartments in the South Bronx
On October 28, 2024, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, in collaboration with other critical stakeholders celebrated the opening of Melrose North, a new building with 171 affordable apartments. Of the 171 affordable homes, 103 of the housing units are allocated for formerly homeless individuals and families. The apartments are located at the New York City Housing Authority’s Morrisania Air Rights campus in South Bronx and has a ramp for accessibility.

DEP Appoints New Borough Commissioners for the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island
On August 12, 2024, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection appointed three Borough Commissioners for the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island. The Borough Commissioners will serve as chief liaisons for elected officials, stakeholders, and community members to address environmental issues within each borough. They will also help oversee the advancement of capital projects, the monitoring of air and noise issues, and working with local, state and federal agencies as needed.
Council Approves Bronx Metro-North Station Area Plan
