On December 4, 2024, New York City Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue in collaboration with other critical stakeholders celebrated the renovation of Vinland Playground located deep within Shore Road Park in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bay Ridge. The city is launching two parallel public engagement campaigns, BQE Central and BQE North and South. On September 16, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams and Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced a public engagement campaign that will inform the administration’s efforts to improve the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE). City Announces Completion on Two Brooklyn Major Protected Bike Lanes
The recently completed projects are part of an effort to add more protected bike lanes in Brooklyn by the end of the year. The protected bike lanes are part of the City’s Green Wave plan for cycling. On November 5, 2020 Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the completion of two protected bike lanes in Brooklyn. The new Flatbush Avenue and 4th Avenue protected bike lanes add 3.2 miles of protected lanes.
