On January 3, 2023, the Department of Transportation announced new rules that restrict vending on city-owned bridges. Under the new rules, vendors will not be allowed to sell on pedestrian walkways, bike lanes on bridges and bridge approaches. The rule was made in part to address the excessive crowding on the Brooklyn Bridge.

City Officials Break Ground on New Park in the Bronx
On November 30, 2023, Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue and New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) President and CEO Andrew Kimball joined elected officials to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new park in the South Bronx. The new park, located on Exterior Street between 144th and 146th Streets, will bring waterfront access and new open space for local Bronx residents.

City Expands Trash Containerization Rules to Most Residential Buildings
On October 11, 2023, New York City’s Department of Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch and Mayor Eric Adams announced the next phase of Mayor Adams’ war on rats: a new multi-part plan requiring residential buildings to begin securing all trash in waste containers. City Planning Commission Votes to Approve “City of Yes for Carbon Neutrality”
On September 11, 2023, the City Planning Commission voted to approve the City of Yes for Carbon Neutrality zoning text amendment. The amendment is the first of the City’s three proposed City of Yes zoning text amendments to pass the City Planning Commission. The City of Yes amendments aim to remove or change outdated parts of the zoning text that hinder the development of housing, economic growth, or the implementation of green technology and infrastructure.
