
On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the Center for New York City and State Law, with the Flushing Meadows Corona Park Alliance, hosted “Big Things Happening in Queens,” a look into economic and infrastructure large-scale projects around the borough. New York Law School Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Institutional Strategy Matt Gewolb offered opening remarks. Queens Borough President Donovan Richards gave keynote remarks and Maya Handa, NYC’s 2026 World Cup Czar also offered remarks. Following the remarks, Katie Horan, reporter from THE CITY, and Ben Max, Program Director of the Center for New York City and State Law, moderated a panel featuring: Jeanny Pak, Interim President/CEO of NYC EDC; Tom Russell, Founder, Governors Ball Music Festival; Anthony Sama, Executive Director, Alliance for Flushing Meadows Corona Park; Shanel Thomas-Henry, New York City Council Member District 21; Thomas Grech, President & CEO, Queens Chamber of Commerce.
