New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson spoke at this morning’s 155th CityLaw Breakfast at New York Law School. Council Speaker Johnson was introduced by Professor Ross Sandler, Director of the Center for New York City Law, with remarks by Dean Anthony W. Crowell.

Council Speaker Johnson spoke about the importance of maintaining New York City’s transportation infrastructure. In speaking about the L train, Council Speaker Johnson said the train’s impending 15-month shutdown is a warning about the importance of taking action to maintain the subway system. He stated that the MTA Fast Forward program will improve the reliability and speed of the subway system, but the City has to get the funding to support this massive project. Council Speaker Johnson stated that he believes congestion pricing will fund the subway system repairs and alleviate congestion on City streets improving transportation citywide. He also spoke about the City’s newest legislation concerning for-hire vehicles. To watch the complete video, click here.
