HPD Adds NYCHA Housing Violations From Court-Ordered Inspections to Online Portal

On October 7, 2025, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) announced an additional transparency tool added to allow NYCHA residents to keep track of ongoing violations at the buildings they live in.

Violations issued by HPD after court-ordered inspections will now be available to view on HPD Online, the agency’s public information portal. The inspections can be requested in Housing Court by tenants who want the conditions corrected or ordered by a judge. After the request, HPD’s Office Enforcement and Neighborhood Services will conduct inspections and document any violations. When inspectors visit apartments, tenants will be required to be present.

The portal will contain information for inspections conducted after September 15, 2025. To view the portal, click here.

Acting HPD Commissioner Ahmed Tigani stated, “Transparency is one of the most important tools we have for building trust. Advocates and legislators have long called for this change, and we are proud to deliver it. By working with our partners at NYCHA to make court-ordered violations publicly available on HPD Online, we’re giving NYCHA residents a clearer view into the work being done to keep their homes safe and well-maintained.”

NYCHA Chief Operating Officer Eva Trimble stated, “NYCHA has worked closely with our partners at HPD to facilitate public access to Housing Court-ordered inspection information. As part of our ongoing transformation, the Authority continues to improve our repair process and encourages residents in need of assistance to call the Customer Contact Center and work with our Neighborhood Planners to schedule repairs directly.”
