On July 11, 2023, the Department of City Planning will hold the next information session for the City of Yes for Economic Opportunity zoning text amendment. The text amendment is part of Mayor Eric Adams’ City of Yes proposed amendments aimed to remove outdated or unnecessary provisions within the existing zoning text that inhibit the development of housing, green energy, and economic development.

The City of Yes for Economic Opportunity amendment consists of 18 reforms aimed to support small businesses, revitalize commercial corridors and help fill vacant storefronts. For CityLand‘s prior coverage and to read more about the reforms, click here.

The next info session will take place virtually over Zoom tomorrow at 7 PM. To RSVP, click here.

Dan Garodnick, Department of City Planning Director and Chair of the City Planning Commission, stated, “New York City’s entrepreneurs, small businesses, and vibrant commercial corridors make this city special, but existing zoning rules have limited their success. As we craft City of Yes for Economic Opportunity, I hope New Yorkers will get involved in our early outreach to help shape this proposal and support our work for a more vibrant, prosperous city. Please join us at this session to get involved and learn more.”
