On August 16, 2023, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced a $100 incentive credit for customers who enroll in autopay by November 15th.The goal of the program is to reduce the amount of physical paper bills given to customers by using autopay and help keep accounts current. Currently, approximately 12 percent, or 100,000 customers, are enrolled in autopay.

Customers who own property, enroll in monthly billing as well as e-billing, and are not delinquent on any payments can access the auto payment feature through My DEP account. Customers using this feature must link a bank account or credit card to their My DEP account and will pay automatically on the due date or a specific date each month. Those with multiple monthly DEP bills will be eligible for the $100 credit on each account as long as the eligibility requirements are satisfied for each account. The $100 credit incentive will be available until November 15th, 2023.

Additional information can be found on the website nyc.gov/dep/autopay or by calling DEP Customer Service during business hours: Monday, 8am–7pm; Tuesday to Friday, 8am–6pm; Saturday, 9am–12pm at (718) 595-7000. Customers that already meet the eligibility requirements will be contacted through direct mail and email.

DEP Commissioner Rohit T. Aggarawala stated, “This is a great opportunity for our customers to save $100 on their next bill simply by enrolling in autopay. Autopay ensures customers’ bills are paid on time and reduces the stress of missing a payment. I encourage everyone to sign up today and save.”
