    $117.7 Million Affordable Housing Development for Seniors Opens in Mott Haven

    Supportive services onsite will receive funding from the New York State Office of Mental Health. On May 21, 2019, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Governor Andrew Cuomo and other City and State officials announced the opening of Tres Puentes Senior Apartments at 285 East 138th Street and 2550 3rd Avenue in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx.     City Planning Approves New Affordable Housing on NYCHA-Leased Land in Mott Haven

    The building will feature supportive housing with in-building staff to provide services. On January 30, 2019, the City Planning Commission voted to approve an application for the development of a 15 story mixed-use building in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. The building will have approximately 100 residential units and will be located at 472-474 Willis Avenue between East 146th and East 147th Streets. The development site will be leased to the development team by NYCHA. (read more…)

    City Planning Approves Application for Supportive and Affordable Housing in East New York

    The new building will have 43 apartments for formerly homeless individuals. On January 9, 2019, the City Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve an application for the development of a seven-story residential building at 461 Alabama Avenue in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. The City Planning Commission held a public hearing for the application on December 5, 2018. The applicant team consisted of the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, CB Emmanuel Realty LLC, Services for the Underserved and Newman Design. (read more…)

    Construction Begins at The Doe Fund’s New Bronx Affordable and Supportive Housing Development

    The development will provide onsite supportive services for residents. On December 7, 2018, The Doe Fund broke ground at 3188 Villa Avenue, located in the Bedford Park/Special Grand Concourse District of the Bronx to begin construction of a 68-unit affordable and supportive housing development. The Doe Fund is partnering with Chase Community Development Banking to finance the construction, as well as the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, NYCHA, the Corporation for Supportive Housing, and the Human Resources Administration.     Advocacy Coalition Launches Campaign to Urge Governor Cuomo to Release Affordable Housing Funds

    The campaign seeks to push Governor Cuomo to release the funding before the conclusion of the legislative session on June 16, 2016. On May 23, 2016, the “Campaign 4 NY/NY,” an advocacy group endorsed by more than 300 organizations, launched a campaign urging Governor Andrew Cuomo to release the $2 billion committed in the State budget to the creation of supportive housing. Governor Cuomo announced the commitment in his State of the State address in January of 2016, but has taken no further action since then.
