The proposed designation received support from South Bronx residents and preservation advocates. On May 12, 2020, the Landmarks Preservation Commission held a public hearing on a proposal to designate the Manida Street Historic District in Hunts Point, Bronx. The proposed historic district will be located on Manida Street between Garrison and Lafayette Avenues and would consist of 42 semi-detached, two-story brick houses on both sides of the street. The houses on the block all have a consistent Renaissance Revival style which includes mirror image facades, rounded projecting bays, and ornamentation around the door and windows. The proposed historic district represents a period in the early-20th Century when rapid development occurred in the South Bronx. The enhanced version of the map was released as a part of the #LoveNYCLandmarks initiative. On May 7, 2020, the Landmarks Preservation Commission released an enhanced version of their online interactive map, Discover NYC Landmarks. The online map shows the location of individual landmarks, interior landmarks, scenic landmarks, and historic districts in the City. The map also has detailed information for individual buildings located within historic districts. The enhanced version of the map is accessible on different devices and will now have additional search and filter functions.

The interactive timeline aims to foster civic pride for New Yorkers during the COVID-19 pandemic. On April 16, 2020, the Landmarks Preservation Commission announced the release of an online timeline, Fifty-Five Years of LPC. Fifty-Five Years of LPC was released in honor of Landmarks’ 55th year anniversary. The timeline is interactive and includes excerpts of Landmarks’ history and highlights its notable accomplishments through the decades.

The decision to hold virtual hearings and meetings is in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. On April 21, 2020, the Landmarks Preservation Commission will begin holding virtual public hearings and meetings. Landmarks will be holding its hearings and meetings through Zoom, a video-conferencing application. Public hearings and meetings will also be live-streamed for the public on YouTube.

The applicants made modifications to the building’s facade design in response to Landmarks’ concerns. On March 3, 2020, the Landmarks Preservation Commission held a public hearing on a modified application for a Certificate of Appropriateness to demolish an existing three-story garage and office building at 11 Hubert Street, Manhattan and replace it with a new five-story residential building. The existing building is located on the southwest corner of Hubert and Collister Streets, located within the Tribeca West Historic District.
