    Mayor Announces Appointments to New York City Districting Commission

    The Commission will help with the redesign of the City Council district boundaries. On March 7, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams announced his seven appointees to the New York City Districting Commission. The Commission is responsible for redrawing council district boundaries as required every ten years by the City Charter following the national census. The redistricting helps the City Council reflect changes in demographics and population.  (more…)

    Today, November 12, 2021, New York City Corporation Counsel Georgia Pestana spoke at the 175th CityLaw Breakfast. Ms. Pestana spoke on “Practicing Law During the Pandemic: Crisis, Challenges & Opportunities.” Professor Ross Sandler, Director of the Center for New York City Law provided opening remarks. After the talk, President and Dean of New York Law School Anthony W. Crowell and Professor Michael J. Pastor, Director of the James Tricarico Jr. Institute for the Business of Law and In-House Counsel, held a discussion with Ms. Pestana. This Breakfast was sponsored by ConEdison, Greenberg Traurig, and Verizon. This was the ninth virtual CityLaw Breakfast as in-person events are not feasible at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.     Westchester County Stream and Wetland Restoration Completed, Protecting a New York City Water Supply

    The former Armonk Bowling Alley has been converted into a natural buffer upstream of the Kensico Reservoir and will help to protect a key source of unfiltered drinking water. On June 4, 2021, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection announced the completion of a $5.5 million restoration project to rebuild a stream and wetlands on the site of the former Armonk Bowling Alley located in Westchester County. The new stream and wetlands expand the natural area and further protects a key source of unfiltered drinking water for the New York City. (more…)
