On July 18, 2023, the Department of Design and Construction announced the completion of a $5.2 million restoration of the front steps of the Staten Island Supreme Court building. The courthouse, located at 18 Richmond Terrance in St. George, is a historic landmark. The courthouse was designated in March 1982. The French Renaissance-style temple-fronted building was designed in 1913 by Carrere & Hastings.
Landmarks Designates Three Buildings Tied to Jazz History
On June 27, 2023, the Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate three buildings connected to jazz history. The buildings are 105-19 37th Avenue in Corona, Queens, 935 St. Nicholas Avenue in Washington Heights, and the Hotel Cecil & Minton’s Playhouse building at 206 West 118th Street in Harlem.

NYCHA miscalculated rent increases for one in five tenants at Red Hook Houses, overcharging some and undercharging others. On June 7, 2023, City Comptroller Brad Lander announced that the New York City Housing Authority (The Authority, or NYCHA) miscalculated sampled rent adjustments at the Red Hook East and Red Hook West developments in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn.
