    The building includes a community center with a variety of programs to promote economic growth and youth development. On October 4, 2022, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) joined other city agencies, MHANY Management, Urban Builders Collaborative and Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation to celebrate the opening of Chestnut Commons Apartments in East New York, Brooklyn. Chestnut Commons Apartments, located at 110 Dinsmore Place, is a new 275-permanently affordable unit building.  (more…)

    HPD Announces Major Progress, Ribbon Cuttings on Linden Terrace Project in East New York

    On March 15, 2022, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC), and members of the development team cut the ribbon for the first building of the Linden Terrace project. The Linden Terrace project will bring 548 new affordable homes spread across three buildings. The celebration marked the opening and first lease up of 2858 Linden Boulevard, the first building, and the groundbreaking of the second and third buildings in the project. The development team consists of Radson Development, Real Builders, and Spring Management.  (more…)

    HPD Releases Request for Proposals to Find Tenant Organizing Groups for Partners in Preservation Program

    On March 22, 2023, the Department of Housing, Preservation and Development (HPD) announced the release of a request for proposals (RFP) for tenant organizing groups to expand the Partners in Preservation program. The program preserves rent-regulated housing units and supports tenant organizers who work with the agency and tenants to fight harassment, displacement, and poor living conditions.  (more…)

    HPD Celebrates Grand Opening of 100 Percent Affordable Housing Development in Cypress Hills

    The mixed-use, nine-story “50 Penn” building in Brooklyn will provide both housing and additional supports. On June 9, 2022, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), the NYC Housing Development Corporation (HDC), developer PennRose, and the Riseboro Community Partnership celebrated the grand opening of the “50 Penn” housing development in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. The 218-unit building addresses key priorities in the East New York Neighborhood Plan, such as affordable housing and access to fresh food. While the building was financed through HPD and HDC, Pennrose was the project’s lead developer and RiseBoro will provide on-site property management. (more…)

    HPD Announces Settlement Reached with Building Owner Over Harassment and Violations

    The landlord had previously topped the NYC Public Advocate’s Worst Landlord Watchlist. On November 22, 2021, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development announced that a settlement had been reached with Jason Korn, a Brooklyn-based landlord over outstanding building violations and tenant harassment in six buildings in Brooklyn and Manhattan.  (more…)
