Construction Milestone Reached for New 116th Precinct in Southeast Queens

After decades of advocating, the communities of Rosedale, Brookville, Laurelton, and Springfield Gardens in Queens celebrated the topping off on their newly-established police precinct. On August 22, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams joined the NYPD, NYC Department of Design and Construction, and local elected officials to celebrate the installation of the last steel beam, known as the topping off ceremony, for the new 116th Precinct in southeast Queens.


Design and Construction Announces Completion of Repairs to Shore Road Following Devastating 2018 Storm

A 2018 nor’easter damaged Shore Road, resulting in a partial collapse of the embankment and damage to the roadway and walkway. On June 23, 2022, the Department of Design and Construction, elected officials, and community members celebrated the completion of a $4.9 million project to stabilize Shore Road, which runs along Little Neck Bay from West Drive to Bayview Avenue in Douglaston, Queens.


First Design-Build Teams Selected, Construction to Soon Begin on Borough-Based Jails Project

These teams will prepare the site for construction and enable court operations to continue for the duration of construction.
