Upgraded Storm Sewers to be Installed in Richmond, Staten Island

The project aims to relieve street flooding in the neighborhood. On July 9, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection and the NYC Department of Design and Construction announced a $6 million project to upgrade storm sewer infrastructure in the neighborhood of Richmond, Staten Island. The project began in January 2020, and is scheduled to be completed during the summer of 2021.


DEP Announces Drainage and Green Infrastructure for Five City Playgrounds

On April 17, 2024, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Trust for Public Land (TPL) announced that construction has commenced on the five new Green Infrastructure playgrounds at schools in Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. The playgrounds are designed to absorb more than 3.5 million gallons of stormwater every year to curb runoff that floods nearby streets and overwhelms local sewer systems in addition to polluting the East River.


DOT, DEP, and DDC Finish $4.7 Million Infrastructure and Sidewalk Renovation Project in Westerleigh, Staten Island

On February 27, 2024, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), NYC Department of Transportation (DOT), and NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) announced the completion of an infrastructure project in Westerleigh, Staten Island. The project upgraded water mains and sanitary sewers, added new storm sewers and improved roads and sidewalks. The entire project cost the City $4.7 million which was $1 million less than predicted and the project was finished on time.


City Announces Completion of Transportation, Infrastructure Upgrades Along Pelham Parkway in the Bronx

On December 27, 2023, the Department of Design and Construction, Department of Transportation and the Department of Environmental Protection announced the completion of the second and final phase of reconstruction along Pelham Parkway in the Bronx. The project was managed by Design and Construction for Transportation and Environmental Protection.



DEP and DDC Complete $54 Million Project to Improve Stormwater Management in Gowanus
