The Cottage is one of 101 projects the Borough President has provided capital dollars for this year. City Council Approves Major Bay Street Corridor Plan with Modifications

Before reaching the City Council, the project received mixed support over concerns that the area was ill-equipped for the increased density. Claim based on verbal request denied

Construction Company sought additional compensation related to the reconstruction of Washington Square Park. In May 2015, the Parks Department contracted with SH5 Construction Corp. to reconstruct perimeter sidewalks around Washington Square Park, Manhattan. SH5 alleged a Parks employee gave it verbal instructions to install a straight curb instead of a drop curb at the north side of the park between 5th Avenue and University Place.


City’s Claim for Tree Damage Dismissed

Sidewalk contractor injured City trees during sidewalk reconstruction. A property owner hired Tri-Rail Construction, Inc., to repair the sidewalk adjacent to the owner’s property. During the course of the sidewalk repair work Tri-Rail injured City-owned trees. The City sued Tri-Rail for money damages for the injury to the City trees.
