On March 19, 2024, the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) launched Portico, a web-based permit application portal for owners of landmark buildings applying for permits to work on their designated properties. On March 1, 2024, the New York City Department of Housing Prevention and Development (HPD), New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC), and the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (HCR) celebrated the groundbreaking for Stevenson Square in the Soundview section of The Bronx. Dept. of City Planning Releases “Principle of Good Urban Design” Guidebook
On March 4, 2024, the New York City Department of City Planning (DCP) Director Dan Garodnick announced the release of the ‘Principles of Good Urban Design’, an illustrated guidebook that strives to make New York City’s urban design principles clear and understandable to the public. The goal of the guidebook is to inspire all New Yorkers to put the principles of good urban design into action in their own communities.
Landmarks Designates Tremont Branch of NYPL
On March 5, 2024, the Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate the Tremont Branch of the New York Public Library. Located at 1866 Washington Avenue, the branch was built in 1905 and is one of the 67 branches funded by a grant from Andrew Carnegie.
