Council modifies street trees and yards specs.

Council Members Tony Avella and Melinda Katz secure exemption for certain one- and two-family homes from new street tree requirements. On April 30, 2008, the City Council modified the Department of City Planning’s proposals to amend the zoning requirements for street trees and yards. City Announces Completion of Transportation, Infrastructure Upgrades Along Pelham Parkway in the Bronx

On December 27, 2023, the Department of Design and Construction, Department of Transportation and the Department of Environmental Protection announced the completion of the second and final phase of reconstruction along Pelham Parkway in the Bronx. The project was managed by Design and Construction for Transportation and Environmental Protection.


City Officials Break Ground on New Park in the Bronx

On November 30, 2023, Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue and New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) President and CEO Andrew Kimball joined elected officials to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new park in the South Bronx. The new park, located on Exterior Street between 144th and 146th Streets, will bring waterfront access and new open space for local Bronx residents.

Parks Dept and Elected Officials Celebrate Completed Renovations of Jamaica Playground

On September 27, 2023, the Parks Department joined Council Speaker Adrienne Adams and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., Assemblywoman Vivian Cooke, members of Queens Community Board 12, and students from P.S. 40 Samuel Huntington Elementary School to celebrate the completed renovation of Jamaica Playground in Jamaica, Queens. The playground is located on Brinkerhoff Avenue between 160th Street and Union Hall Street.
