City Planning Hears Application for Proposed 46-Story Mid-block Tower in Yorkville
On January 3, 2024, the City Planning Commission held a public hearing for an application for a 46-story mixed-use building at 231 East 94th Street in Yorkville. The project site is located mid-block on the north side of East 94th Street between Second and Third Avenues. The applicant is LM East 94th LLC.
City Planning Approves Timbale Terrace Application in East Harlem
On January 3, 2024, the City Planning Commission voted to approve the Timbale Terrace project, a mixed-use 100 percent affordable building at 101 East 118th Street in East Harlem. The building will replace a parking lot for the New York Police Department’s 25th Precinct.
City Announces New Rule Prohibiting Vendors on City Bridges
On January 3, 2023, the Department of Transportation announced new rules that restrict vending on city-owned bridges. Under the new rules, vendors will not be allowed to sell on pedestrian walkways, bike lanes on bridges and bridge approaches. The rule was made in part to address the excessive crowding on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Landmarks Designates Two Modern Buildings as Final Designations for 2023
On December 19, 2023, the Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate two buildings as individual landmarks. The Barkin, Levin & Company Office Pavilion in Queens and the Modulightor Building in Manhattan, were the final designations of 2023.
License revoked for fatal injury
General contractor with riggers license violated multiple Building Code provisions on construction job where worker fell from unpermitted scaffolding. Wayne Bellet contracted to perform brick façade work on a six-story building located at 880 St. Nicholas Avenue in Manhattan. Bellet commenced the brick façade work after his subcontractor constructed a 50-foot-tall supported scaffold and Bellet. On June 22, 2019, a worker fell off the supported scaffold at the location and died.
