Low-Cost Broadband Access Expanded for 10,000 Bronx NYCHA Residents

The expansion adds on to 30,000 residents who already received low-cost broadband. On July 27, 2021, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced an agreement with New York City-based internet service provider Bloc Power to bring high-speed internet access to 10,000 NYCHA residents across five Bronx NYCHA developments. The five developments include Melrose, East 152 Street-Courtlandt Avenue, Forest, Morris I, and Morris II.


City Planning Launches Open House Webpage for Public Engagement with Four Future Bronx Metro-North Stations

The Department’s ongoing study uses community feedback to assess land use needs in the East Bronx. Bronx Affordable Housing Development Enters Final Phase

The new affordable housing development will house 261 low-income and formerly homeless  families. City Begins Process of Installing 10,000 New Bike Racks with Bronx Installations

Bronx Park East will be getting new bike racks in addition to pedestrian and cyclist improvements. On March 5, 2021, the Department of Transportation began the installation of bike racks along Bronx Park East in the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx. This begins the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation’s, Hank Gutman, goal to install 10,000 new bike racks by the end of 2022.


City Planning Hears Application for Two Affordable Buildings in the Bronx

The buildings will bring 238 affordable units to the area. $9 Million Invested to Upgrade Morrison Avenue Plaza in the Bronx

The upgrade is scheduled to be completed in winter 2021. On October 30, 2020, the NYC Department of Transportation, NYC Department of Environmental Protection, and the NYC Department of Design and Construction announced the beginning of a $9 million project to expand and beautify Morrison Avenue Plaza located at the southeast corner of Morrison Avenue and Westchester Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood in the Bronx.
