    Parks Department to Build Playgrounds, Open Space at Six NYCHA Developments

    The Mayor’s office has invested $23 million across three acres of NYCHA open space. On September 14, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams, the Parks Department, and the NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) announced a pilot program to invest in nearly three acres of NYCHA open spaces, including playgrounds, across six housing developments. Three of these developments are located in Queens, two in the Bronx, and one in Brooklyn. (more…)

    Mayor Adams Signs Executive Order to Combat Greenhouse Gas Emissions from City Construction Projects

    The City’s construction sites are going green. On September 23, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams signed Clean Construction Executive Order 23 (EO 23). The executive order requires the city’s capital project agencies to commit to actions that will lower greenhouse gas emissions arising from municipal construction projects. (more…)

    On September 14, 2022, the City Council voted to approve Gail Benjamin and Anthony Crowell to the New York City Planning Commission. Earlier that same day, the City Council Committee on Rules, Privileges, and Elections also voted in favor following a hearing a week earlier. (more…)

    City Revamps Composting Efforts Starting in Queens

    Last month, Mayor Adams announced a new plan to bring automatic, weekly curbside organic waste collection to the entire borough of Queens. Residents can order free compost bins from the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY), and bins will automatically be sent to buildings with 10 or more residential units. (more…)
