New Harbor Protectors Initiative Launched

The Coney Island initiative recruits’ volunteers to assist in the effort to help protect New York City’s Waterways. On April 22, 2021, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Vincent Sapienza launched the new Harbor Protectors Initiative to clean up Coney Island. The program aims to recruit volunteers to assist in the cleanup of Coney Island through various methods.


New Entrances to Prospect Park Completed

The entrances are part of a $40 million series of park improvement projects citywide. On January 27, 2021, the Parks Department cut the ribbon on two new completed entrances to Prospect Park along Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. Landmarks Holds Public Hearing on Proposed East 25th Street Historic District

The proposed designation received strong support from block residents and the Community Board. On September 22, 2020, the Landmarks Preservation Commission held a public hearing on the Proposed East 25th Street Historic District. The East 25th Street Historic District consists of 56 row houses on both sides of East 25th Street between Clarendon Road and Avenue D in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Parks Dept Celebrates Renovations of Jackie Robinson Park

It is the second park to be renovated through the Parks Without Boarders program. Earlier this summer, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation completed a $4.7 million renovation of Jackie Robinson Park in Harlem.
