The campaign includes virtual meeting backgrounds, foliage hikes and a Spotify playlist. On October 1, 2020, the Parks Department announced the annual #FallForNYC campaign to get New Yorkers into the autumnal spirit.

The campaign includes:

A social media campaign. New Yorkers are encouraged to share their best fall-themed photos from their favorite NYC parks on Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #FallForNYC. NYC Park’s Instagram account, @nycparks, will share the park’s department’s favorite photos.

– Socially distanced fall foliage hikes with NYC Parks Rangers. On the walks, the Rangers will explain why the leaves change colors and point out the diversity of trees found in some of the City’s parks. The hikes will begin on October 10 and take place in Forest Park, Fort Greene Park, Randall’s Island Park, Blood Root Valley, High Rock Park, Kissena, Saratoga Park, and Crotona Park. More information can be found on NYC Park’s website here.

– A fall themed Spotify playlist. The playlist has not been published yet. For other NYC Parks Spotify playlists see here.

– A fall themed puzzle. The fall themed puzzle has not yet been released. For other NYC parks puzzles see here.

– Virtual meeting backgrounds. These backgrounds are already available on NYC Park’s Twitter and Facebook.

This year, the Parks Department urges all New Yorkers to enjoy the city’s greenspaces and follow social distancing guidelines – maintaining 6 feet of distance from others, wearing a face covering, and staying home if you are ill. Parks also asks New Yorkers to do their best to keep the city’s greenspaces clean for all to use. More of the Parks’ anti-littering campaign can be read here.
