City Council Appoints New Leadership to Committee on Land Use

The New Year brought new leadership to City Council committees and subcommittees. On January 11, 2018, new City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, announced the New York City Council committee chairs and leadership. City Council has 35 standing committees, which including the Committee on Land Use and Committee on Housing and Buildings.



DDC Announces Yvi McEvilly as Head of Agency’s Design-Build Unit

On December 7, 2023, the Department of Design and Construction announced the appointment of Yvi McEvilly as the new Assistant Commissioner for the agency’s Design-Build Unit. Her role will help expand the design-build program, which allows for a single entity to be responsible for both the design and construction of projects, avoiding the additional procurement process of approving separate vendors. Mayor Announces “Getting 97 Done” Initiative to Help Reduce Citywide Emissions

On September 12, 2023, Mayor Eric Adams announced his “Getting 97 Done” initiative. The plan aims to deliver on the goals outlined in Local Law 97 of 2019 – a 40 percent reduction inbuilding emissions by 2030, and a 70 percent reduction in citywide emissions by 2050. The plan is part of Mayor Adam’s long-term sustainability plan, “PlaNYC: Getting Sustainability Done”, published in April 2023.
