DOT Cuts Ribbon on Completed Improvements Outside Pelham Bay Park Station in the Bronx

On January 23, 2023, NYC Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez joined MTA President Richard Davey, elected officials and transportation advocates to celebrate the completion of transit improvements around the Pelham Bay Park station in the Bronx. City Announces Study to Reimagine Cross-Bronx Expressway

On December 19, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams announced the launch of a community-driven study to improve the Cross-Bronx Expressway. The Cross-Bronx Expressway, which was constructed in the 1950s and 60s, cut through communities across the borough, disrupting neighborhoods and local economies, and bringing noise and air pollution. 


New Permanent Space for Bronx Children’s Museum Opens

The Bronx was previously the only borough not to have a permanent children’s museum. On November 16, 2022, the Departments of Design and Construction, Parks and Recreation, and Cultural Affairs, elected officials and community members celebrated the opening of the permanent space for the Bronx Children’s Museum. The museum is now located at the Bronx Terminal Market at 725 Exterior Street in Mill Pond Park. 


Landmarks Holds Public Hearing for Designation of Samuel Gompers High School in the Bronx

Multiple people spoke in support and highlighted the building’s art deco features and connection to the city’s industrial history. On November 15, 2022 the Landmarks Preservation Commission held a public hearing for the designation of the Samuel Gompers Industrial High School as an individual landmark. Gompers High School is located at 455 Southern Boulevard in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.
