Mayor Appoints Nestor Davidson as Rent Guidelines Board Chair

On March 10, 2023, Mayor Eric Adams announced the appointment of Nestor Davidson as the new chair of the New York City Rent Guidelines Board. The Rent Guidelines Board is responsible for establishing rent adjustments for the over one million dwelling units subject to the Rent Stabilization Law. The Board consists of nine members who are all appointed by the Mayor. 



Mayor Celebrates Opening of “90 Sands” Affordable Housing Development

The former Jehovah’s Witnesses hotel has been converted into nearly 500 affordable and supportive housing units. On November 3, 2022, Mayor Adams, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) joined nonprofit Breaking Ground to celebrate the opening of 90 Sands, a former hotel converted into 491 affordable and supportive housing units in Dumbo, Brooklyn.


Mayor Adams Signs Two Economic Recovery Bills

The two City Council measures will create a small business portal and require additional commercial property registration, respectively. On October 18, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams signed two bills, Intro 116 and Intro 383, to promote the city’s economic recovery. Intro 116 will help small business owners with City administrative needs and Intro 383 provides the city with more data about the extent of commercial vacancies citywide.


City Connects 10,000 Households to Stable, Affordable Housing in Fiscal Year 2022

Mayor Adams announced several achievements over the last fiscal year in the multiagency effort to get New Yorkers into quality affordable homes.
