Small Business Services Launches Grant Program to Help Small Businesses Purchase Resiliency Protection, Disaster Risk Assessment

On April 2, 2024, the Department of Small Business Services announced a new grant program to support small businesses in dealing with natural disasters. The Business Preparedness and Resiliency Program will offer free risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and issue grants of up to $5,000 for small business owners and commercial property owners to use for infrastructure protection or upgrades, like generators or flood barriers. 



DOT Announces New Rules to Allow E-Cargo Bikes as More Sustainable Delivery Option

On March 27, 2024, the New York City Department of Transportation announced that e-cargo bikes are now authorized for use on city streets and established safety standards through new agency rules. The e-cargo bikes will provide a more sustainable and safer option for deliveries by helping reduce the number of large delivery trucks needed citywide. 


Proposed City of Yes for Housing Opportunity Amendment to Help Faith-Based Orgs Build Affordable Housing

On March 22, 2024, Mayor Eric Adams announced details about the plan to assist faith-based organizations and other mission-based nonprofits to build affordable housing citywide. As part of the City of Yes for Housing Opportunity plan, the administration’s third proposed zoning text changes that will remove outdated and arbitrary language from the zoning text that will allow for the creation of more housing.
