Homeowners are encouraged to register early as time slots are limited. On June 11, 2021, the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission announced virtual open office hours initiative that will enable homeowners to meet one-on one with the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s staff to discuss potential projects and ask questions about permitting.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission reviews the permit applications of property owners that are considering working on their landmarked buildings and sites. The initiative will assist property owners to obtain approval for work, and ensure that the work meets both the property owners goals and City regulations by providing time for homeowners to sit and speak with Landmarks staff about their projects.

Landmarks will hold one session per borough, and one citywide session over the summer. The sessions will be held between 4 and 6 p.m via Zoom. Timeslots are limited so homeowners are encouraged to sign up in advance on the Landmarks website. The sessions will be held on the following dates:

– June 24th – The Bronx (Bronx homeowners can sign up here)

– July 1st -Staten Island

– July 15th – Queens

– July 29th – Brooklyn

– August 12th – Manhattan

– August 26th – Citywide

Landmarks Chair Sarah Caroll stated, “Addressing equity in every aspect of LPC’s work has been my priority throughout my tenure, including enhancing transparency and accessibility in our regulatory work.LPC’s Open Office Hours initiative, launched as part of our equity framework, will help us make our services more accessible and ensure all property owners are supported through technical assistance and improved guidance so that their proposed work is approved in a timely manner.”
