COMPLETE VIDEO: NYLS’s Mayoral Election Law and Leadership Series #1 featuring Borough President Eric Adams and Former DSNY Commissioner Kathryn Garcia

Common themes discussed included the importance of listening to communities and emphasizing communication and a clear vision. On April 14, 2021, New York Law School hosted the first of two Law and Leadership forums where New York Law School students spoke with Mayoral candidates about their leadership styles.

The discussion is part of New York Law School’s new Law and Leadership Institute. Five first-year New York Law School students had the opportunity to ask Mayoral candidates Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and former Commissioner of the Department of Sanitation Kathryn Garcia about their ideas, strategies and leadership philosophy.

Students’ questions touched on a variety of issues, including how to handle the turnover in City Council; how to adjust a leadership response during a crisis like the pandemic;  how to unite New Yorkers; how to have great relationships with unions; and how to drive transparency and confidence across city agencies.
