    Summer Fun: New York City Access to Free Spray Showers and Pools

    New York City provides free access to spray showers in 584 parks and to 79 pools at 56 different locations throughout the five boroughs. With summer in NYC comes warm weather and the need to cool down and have fun in the sun. For children, fun means running through sprinklers, or as the City calls them: spray showers, and swimming in pools. (read more…)

    Government Leaders and Key Sponsors Celebrate Rebuilding of Crotona Park Soccer Field in the Bronx

    The refurbished field will also be the site of ongoing youth soccer programming supported by the project’s sponsor, the UAE embassy. On Friday, May 20, 2022, the NYC Parks Department celebrated completion of the refurbishment of the Crotona Park soccer field in the Crotona Park East neighborhood of the Bronx.     City Beaches to Open for Swimming on Memorial Day Weekend

    Starting Saturday, May 28, 2022, City beaches will be open for swimming for the summer. From May 28th to September 11, 2022, swimming is permitted when lifeguards are on duty from 10 AM to 6 PM, and prohibited when lifeguards are off duty.  (read more…)

    Parks Dept Announces Completion of New Dog Run in Devoe Park

    The new dog run includes yard hydrants to provide water for the dogs. On December 20, 2021, the NYC Parks Department unveiled a new dog run in Devoe Park in the University Heights section of the Bronx. The new space provides dog owners a dedicated place to gather and let their pets play and interact. (read more…)

    Parks Dept Begins Little Neck Playground Upgrades with Accessible Play Equipment

    Upgrades include new swings, sensory play equipment and new pavement. On July 15, 2021, the Department of Parks and Recreation announced the groundbreaking for renovations at Challenge Playground on 251 Street between 61st and 63rd Avenues in Little Neck, Queens. The upgrades will make the playground more accessible and inclusive. (read more…)
