Today, April 22, 2022 is Earth Day, and the Parks Department is celebrating with a series of events for New Yorkers citywide. Between today and May 1st, these events focus on sustainability and encourage New Yorkers to get outdoors.

Parks Dept Issues Request for Proposals to Develop Restaurant, Snack Bar, and Boat Rental Concessions at Clove Lakes Park
The restaurant, located in the Boathouse, offers panoramic views of Clove Lake. On August 27, 2021, the Department of Parks and Recreation issued a Request for Proposals for the renovation, operation and maintenance of a restaurant and concessions at the Boathouse in Clove Lakes Park in West Brighton, Staten Island.
Penn Triangle Park Reconstruction Completed
The renovations include new play equipment and trees. On March 15, 2021, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and the Prospect Park Alliance announced the completion of the Penn Triangle reconstruction in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The project is a part of the Community Parks Initiative, which aims to create thriving equitable public places through the reconstruction of smaller local parks.
Parks Dept Launches #FallForNYC Social Media Campaign
The campaign includes virtual meeting backgrounds, foliage hikes and a Spotify playlist. On October 1, 2020, the Parks Department announced the annual #FallForNYC campaign to get New Yorkers into the autumnal spirit.
Parks Department and Elected Officials Celebrate Reopening of Parque de los Niños in the Bronx
Reconstruction project cost $4.35 million and features a new track and ballfields. On August 13, 2019, the Department of Parks and Recreation announced the reopening of Parque de los Ninos, located on the corner of Morrison Avenue and Watson Avenue in the Soundview section of the Bronx. Bronx Playground Receives $8 Million Upgrade with Green Infrastructure
The playground provides new community amenities and improves the health of the Harlem River. On June 7, 2019, the Department of Parks and Recreation announced the completion of an $8 million upgrade to Saw Mill Playground in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. The playground is located on East 139th Street between Brook and Willis Avenues.
