    HPD Opens Proposals for Two East Harlem Sites

    The RFP was developed using community input through the East Harlem Neighborhood Planning Process and visioning workshops. On August 8, 2019, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) Commissioner, Louise Carroll, announced the release of a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) regarding the redevelopment of the East Harlem Multi-Service Center site at 413 East 120th Street in Manhattan and the NYPD’s 25th Precinct parking lot on the east side of Park Avenue between East 118th and East 119th Streets in Manhattan.     HPD Announces Construction of First Phase of 740-Unit Affordable Mixed-Use Development in South Bronx

    Phase One of the development will yield 183 units of deeply affordable housing ranging from studios to three-bedrooms. On July 16, 2019, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD),the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and private developers announced plans to construct the first phase of the Peninsula, a 100 percent affordable mixed-use development in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the Bronx. The project will be constructed on the site of the former Spofford Juvenile Detention Center. (read more…)

    Affordable and Environmentally Friendly Senior Housing Project Opens in Queens

    The development provides housing and supportive services to formerly homeless seniors. On May 29, 2019, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development announced the grand opening of HANAC’s $36 million Corona Senior Residence at 54-17 101St Street in Corona, Queens. The newly constructed eight-story housing project is environmentally friendly and comes with 67 affordable studio and one-bedroom residences, 21 of which are for formerly homeless seniors. The building features an early childhood education center on the ground floor administered by the New York City School Construction Authority. The “Passive House” building was designed by Think! Architecture and Design in consultation with the Association for Energy Affordability. (read more…)

    $117.7 Million Affordable Housing Development for Seniors Opens in Mott Haven

    Supportive services onsite will receive funding from the New York State Office of Mental Health. On May 21, 2019, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Governor Andrew Cuomo and other City and State officials announced the opening of Tres Puentes Senior Apartments at 285 East 138th Street and 2550 3rd Avenue in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx.     HPD, NYSHCR, Private Developers and Others Announce Opening of New 135-Unit Affordable Kingsbridge Heights Development

    The newly-constructed $70.5 million housing project is affordable, energy efficient, and provides housing and supportive services to formerly homeless families. On May 22, 2019, the New York State Homes and Community Renewal Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas, Deputy Mayor for Housing Vicki Been, Department of Housing Preservation and Development Commissioner Louise Carroll, B&B Urban, L+M Development Partners and the Center for Urban Community Services announced the opening of a newly-constructed affordable housing development, Kingsbridge Heights Apartments, at 2700 Jerome Avenue in the Kingsbridge Heights neighborhood of the Bronx. The 13-story development offers 135 residential units, over 1,200 square feet of ground floor retail space, 17 parking spaces and comes with several amenities for residents. (read more…)
