    On December 14, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul announced the start of construction of Logan Fountain, a new mixed-use development in East New York that will bring affordable, supportive transitional housing and retail space to the site of a defunct gas station.     HPD, Elected Officials, Project Partners Break Ground on New Supportive Senior Housing in Mott Haven

    The project will bring 152 units of affordable and supportive housing to the South Bronx. On September 10, 2019, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC), the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), and the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance/Homeless Housing and Assistance Corporation (OTDA/HHAC), elected officials and project partners broke ground on “Betances Residence,” a new senior housing project. The project is located at 443 East 142nd Street between Willis and Brook Avenues in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. (more…)

    HPD Announces Selection of Plan and Partners for New Affordable Housing Development in Bed-Stuy

    On January 12, 2023, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development announced the selection of a plan and partners for the creation of a new affordable housing development for seniors and low-income families in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. The development, “The Steps at Saratoga,” will also be the first New York City development to build a community-owned local network plant to provide more affordable internet access to local residents and businesses.The team selected includes RiseBoro, IMPACCT Brooklyn and Urbane Development, and designs from minority-owned architecture firm MARVEL. The site is currently a vacant lot.  (more…)

    HPD Cuts Ribbon on New Senior Housing in Astoria

    On October 7, 2022, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development joined City officials and community members to celebrate the opening of the Bishop Rene A. Valero Senior Residence at 23-11 31st Road in Astoria, Queens. The facility was developed by Catholic Charities Progress of Peoples Development Corporation, the affordable housing branch of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens.  (more…)
