    New Rezoning to Revitalize Portion of Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn

    In addition to 114 new residential units, 34 of which will be affordable, the new development will feature two stories of retail space that is responsive to community needs.  On March 13, 2019, the City Planning Commission voted to approve an application for a rezoning in the Flatbush Junction neighborhood of Brooklyn. The application calls for a rezoning of the applicant’s property at 1640 Flatbush Avenue, facing the Triangle Junction shopping mall to the north, Aurelia Court to the south, Flatbush Avenue to the east, and East 31st street to the west, along with portions of an adjacent property and one located across East 31st Street. The proposed rezoning will facilitate the development of a new 13-story mixed-use building on the applicant-owned 1640 Flatbush Avenue, and bring the other two properties into zoning compliance.     City Planning Approves Application for Supportive and Affordable Housing in East New York

    The new building will have 43 apartments for formerly homeless individuals. On January 9, 2019, the City Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve an application for the development of a seven-story residential building at 461 Alabama Avenue in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. The City Planning Commission held a public hearing for the application on December 5, 2018. The applicant team consisted of the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, CB Emmanuel Realty LLC, Services for the Underserved and Newman Design. (more…)

    New Bedford Avenue Apartment Building to Replace Underutilized Gas Station

    The new building will provide 36 apartments, eleven of which will be affordable. On November 14, 2018, the City Planning Commission held a public hearing on an application for a rezoning at 895 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn. The applicant, 895 Bedford Avenue Realty LLC, proposes to build a seven-story residential building with ground retail space at the corner of Bedford Avenue and Willoughby Avenue.   (more…)

    City Planning Commission Considers Rezoning Near Brooklyn Botanical Garden

    If approved, the rezoning will make way for construction of over 500 new apartments in Crown Heights. On September 26, 2018, the City Planning Commission held a public hearing on a rezoning application for Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn. The rezoning would allow construction of two new 16-story buildings at 40 Crown Street and 931 Carroll Street. Both buildings are a block east of the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. (more…)

    Rezoning Application Will Map First MIH Area in Brooklyn Community District 15

    New development will include both residential and commercial uses. On August 8, 2018, the City Planning Commission approved a rezoning application by Quentin Plaza LLC for 1881-1883 McDonald Avenue in the Homecrest neighborhood of Brooklyn. The proposed zoning map and zoning text amendment will facilitate a new mixed-use building. The rezoning area is bounded by Avenue P to the north, East 2nd Street to the east, Woodside Avenue to the south, and McDonald Avenue to the west. (more…)
