    On March 16, 2023, the NYC Council approved Council Member Amanda Farías’s bill, Int. 0236-2022, that will reduce NYC Ferry’s fares for NYC high school students by including them in the NYC Ferry Discount Program. (more…)

    City Council Introduces Bill to Shorten Street Resurfacing Timelines

    The proposed change would require the Department of Transportation to ensure that all street resurfacing work is completed within two weeks of the start of the work, and to provide the community with notice and updates if additional time is needed for underlying work. On February 2, 2023, Council Member Justin L. Brannan introduced Introduction No. 905 of 2023 in the New York City Council. The bill aims to ensure that all street resurfacing work is completed within two weeks from the start date. (more…)

    Proposed Council Bill to Increase Penalties for Sidewalk Parking in Manufacturing Districts

    New penalties will range from $500 to $1,000. On February 2, 2023, Council Member Alexa Avilés introduced bill number 0900-2023 in the NYC Council. The bill proposes to increase penalties for illegal sidewalk parking by covered businesses in certain manufacturing (M1) zoning districts and arranged for bollards to be installed within selected areas of these zoning districts.     City Council Votes for Three Parks Bills to Improve Capital Project Transparency, Build Green Micro-spaces

    On December 21, 2022, the City Council voted to approve three bills that would improve transparency with the Parks Department’s capital projects process and utilize small or micro spaces that can be used for beneficial green space.
