On June 16, 2022, the Landmarks Preservation Commission announced the launch of “Pride: Celebrating LGBTQ+ Landmarks”. This interactive story map highlights individual landmarks designated by LPC for their significant contributions to LGBTQ+ cultural and civil rights movements.
Slow Down on Lifting Covid-19 Mandates – Children Under Five Still at Risk
Mask and vaccine mandates are being rolled back by Mayor Eric Adams, Governor Kathy Hochul, and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. They are moving too fast. Mandates should not be universally lifted until 100% of our populations including children younger than five had an opportunity to at least choose to be vaccinated and that is not the case right now.
DDC and DEP Complete Water Connection to Randall’s and Wards Islands
The newly completed water connection will bring reliable water to the public buildings located on Randall’s and Wards Islands. On January 5, 2021, the Department of Designs and Construction (DDC) and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced the completion of a water connection upgrade to Randall’s and Wards Islands. The DEP funded the project while the DDC managed construction.
