On Friday, May 1, 2015, the Center for New York City Law at New York Law School hosted the 125th City Law Breakfast, celebrating the Center for New York City Law’s 20th Anniversary.  The speakers were Zachary Carter, Corporation Counsel of New York, Michael A. Cardozo, a partner at Proskauer Rose and Corporation Counsel from 2002 to 2013, and the Honorable Paul A. Crotty, a federal judge for the Southern District of New York and Corporation Counsel from 1994 to 1997.

The three speakers were on a panel moderated by Fritz Schwarz, former Corporation Counsel to Mayor Ed Koch.  The panelists were welcomed by Anthony Crowell, Dean and President of New York Law School and introduced by Ross Sandler, Professor of Law and Director of the Center for New York City Law.  The panelists discussed various topics from issues they had each tackled during their respective times as Corporation Counsel to the legacy of poor relations between the New York Police Department and communities of color in New York City.

The Center also took time to recognize the inaugural recipients of the Civic Fame Award:  Jeffrey Friedlander, First Assistant Corporation Counsel at the New York Law Department; Mary McCormick, President of the Fund for the City of New York; Sheila Aresty of the Steven and Sheila Aresty Foundation and graduate of New York Law School ’94; and Stanley Shuman of Allen & Co. LLC and Chair of the Center for New York City Law Advisory Committee.

The Center would also like to thank all the people whose generosity made the last twenty years possible and allow us to continue our work into the future.  If you would like to join in funding our work, information can be found HERE.
